Void of Space
허의 공간 (虛의 空間)
점을 반복적으로 찍는 행위를 한다. 흰 화면에 순차적으로 점이 찍혀가면서 차별성이 생기고 특징이 만들어져가며 완성된다. 흰 화면에 나타난 점들은 선과 면을 거치며 다시 점이 되었다. 더 이상 흰색이 아닌 현색의 점들은 그 당시의 행위만을 증명한다.
점을 가득히 찍은 종이는 그 자체가 아무것도 존재하지 않는 완전한 화면이 되어버렸다. 결국 흰 종이가 현색의 종이로 탈바꿈한 것은 그 시간에 행했던 행동의 유일한 기록일 뿐이다. 존재자로 존재하고 있음을 증명하는 기록이고 삶의 부산물이다
붓으로 먹을 올리는 반복행위를 하지만 반복의 결과는 매번 다르다. 결과가 같지 않은 행동의 반복이다. 반복을 통해 자국을 남기고 자국위에 또 다른 자국의 흔적이 중첩되며 겹이 생기고, 그 겹은 '허'의 공간을 만든다. 우리가 거울에 비친 가상의 공간을 보는것과 같이, 존재를 반영하지만 존재하지 않는 공간을 자각하기를 바란다. - 신상원
